Opening with footage of London Fire Brigade officers tackling a blaze and showing the City of London on fire, this clip shows World War Two bomb damage to the Square Mile. The view of the City in flames appears to be from the roof of St Paul's Cathedral, presumably on the night of 29 December 1940 during the great fire raid on the City of London. Shots of bomb site gardens around the Barbican area are included, prior to redevelopment. This clip is taken from the film My Lord Mayor, the full description of this title can be seen on the LMA catalogue, the full film can also be viewed online at www.youtube.com/LdnMetArchives
