The Elms, Children’s Home, 90 Coombe Road, Croydon: new games room
Description
The rear view of The Elms Children’s Home shows the garden and the exterior of the new games room, (see record number 172978 for a photo of the interior of the games room). The Elms was a small children’s home that accommodated up to 14 children, aged 5 to 15 years old. At one time it was run by the London County Council (L.C.C.). In 1965, soon after the photo was taken Croydon Council took over the running of the home. The home has since been demolished and replaced with a modern housing estate.
