Title
Liskeard Lodge Reception Home, 27 Liskeard Gardens, Blackheath: reception centre
Description
Liskeard Lodge was a reception home with assessment facilities. Children would stay there when they first came into care, for a short time until they were either able to return home or moved to a longer-term placement. It was a small home accommodating only 22 children, aged 1 to 15 years old. At one time it was run by the London County Council (L.C.C.) and was taken over by Lewisham Council in 1965. The home has since closed and today residential housing is on the site.
