Description
East India Dock main gate opposite junction of Brunswick Road and East India Dock Road, Poplar, looking east. View shows crowd, most likely striking dock workforce, outside the closed dock gates. The stone gatehouse, after being damaged by a V1 bomb c1940 was entirely removed as during expansion of the Blackwall tunnel to make way for the major road junction between East India Dock Road and the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach Road, except for the commemorative stone which has been relocated nearby.
