Description
Exterior view of the White Horse Public House on Poplar High Street, Tower Hamlets. Consists of a three-storey building with vermiculated stone along the sides. The ground floor is decorated in Victorian glazing. There is a stand alone sign with a legend and statuette of a horse. The Public House is managed by Truman. The building is flanked on the left by a three-storey brick building selling mineral water. On the right are buildings of varying heights and widths, notably a two-storey wooden building selling whale products and a three-storey building with a dormer window in the gambrel roof. Three individuals are exiting the Public House, with another smoking in the doorway. Two women, one with a baby in a pushchair walk in opposite directions. Although the the Public House has since been replaced with residential buildings, the inn sign survives and is Grade II listed, List Entry Number 1065068. SC_PHL_02_0982_80_12057 provides a sharper focus and more of the flanking buildings in the view.
