Description
View from King's Road of the World's End Public House on 459 King's Road, Kensington and Chelsea. The World's End is a three-storey red and white brick building constructed in the Flemish Revival style. The building includes a turret, a chimney and a Flemish gable end roofs. On the right is a brick pilaster topped with a beast holding a coat of arms. The windows are topped with decorative heads with grotesque designs and a aedicule with a plague within a stone garland. The ground floor is decorated in smooth stone and includes cartouches on the fascia, above the festooned Ionic topped pilasters, and extends on the right. The Public House is managed by Watney's. Just beyond the ground floor canopy and street stall with two people can be seen. Dating to the late eighteenth-century, the current building was constructed in 1896, with influence from the architects Norman Shaw and Ernest Geroge. The World's End is a Grade II heritage building listed at List Entry Number 1391649 and currently houses bars and a market store.
