Description
View looking eastwards along Lothbury, City of London. The front façade of 7 Lothbury is visible on the left. This was built by George Somers Clarke in Venetian Gothic-style in 1866 for the General Credit Company and was later occupied by the Overseas Bankers Club amongst others. It features a grand arched entrance, frieze and balcony. It was Grade II listed in 1964; listing number 1193583. The junction to Tokenhouse Alley is visible next to 7 Lothbury, and then the corner and part of the front façade of 41 Lothbury (National Westminster Bank headquarters). The corner of 1 Bartholomew Lane can be seen at the end of Lothbury, at its junction with Throgmorton Street. On the right is the east end of the north wall of the Bank of England. The 26-storey Stock Exchange Tower (completed by Trollope and Colls in 1970) was completely renovated in the 1990s and a glass curtain wall replaced the concrete façade visible in this photograph.
