View of Lower Shadwell Street
Description
Looking east along Lower Shadwell Street, Shadwell. On the left is the derelict remains of the Waterman's Arms public house. On the right, a lamp is attached to the corner of the Shadwell Pumping Station next to Shadwell Dock Stairs leading down to the Thames. The next building is identified as "Lot 72" as it will shortly be demolished to make way for the ventilation shaft of the Rotherhithe Tunnel. Further on is New Star Wharves and cold storage for the Linde British Refrigeration Company Ice Factory. In the distance is an open-sided market. All of the buildings and roads were demolished and are now part of King Edward VII Memorial Park.
