Description
View of houses at 58-62 Wiltshire Road, Brixton. Numbers 58 and 60 are three-storey buildings with basements, bay windows on the ground floor and ornate architraves around the porches. Number 58 a double-fronted three-storey building with basement, bay windows on either side of the steps leading up to the front porch. Wiltshire Road was the main axis of Angell Town an estate of Italianate style houses for the wealthy, laid out in the 1850s and 1860s. They were demolished in the 1970s and this site now forms part of the site of Loughborough Community Centre and Max Roach Park, named after the African-American Jazz drummer who visited in 1986.
