Description
A rooftop view looking east of the corner of Sloane Street and Sloane Square, Chelsea. The Venus Fountain and the Sloane Square War Memorial, both Grade II listed, can be seen in the right of the image. The fountain was created by the sculptor Gilbert Ledward. The fountain is ‘a fountain to lovers’ and consists of a figure of Venus, whilst the basin is decorated with a relief depicting Charles II with his mistress Nell Gwynn seated by the Thames. Westminster Bank Limited can be seen on the corner of Sloane Square in Wyndham House, which is a Grade II listed building.
