Title
Mason's Avenue, City of London: looking east, passage
Description
View along Mason's Avenue, a narrow pedestrian street in the City of London, looking east from the Basinghall Street entrance towards Coleman Street. It shows half-timbered elevations and a covered bridge linking the buildings on the second-floor level. A Snack Bar occupies the premises at number 10, with dustbins and crates in front, and an unidentified shop is in view further down. The round sign behind the street lamp marks the premises of Selection Trust, a mining finance house founded in 1913 and acquired by BP in 1980. A motorbike is parked by the Coleman Street entrance. The half-timbered buildings in Mason's Avenue remain, although with altered facades on the ground-floor level; the second-floor bridge has also been remodelled. Restaurants and pubs, as well as an optician's, occupy Mason's Avenue premises these days.
