Title
Houses in Devonshire Terrace
Description
The rear view of three large houses at 1-3 Devonshire Terrace, Marylebone. Number 1 is the Dinely Rehearsal Studios. Charles Dickens lived at No.1 between 1839 and 1851 and wrote many of his most important work here. Six of his children were born while he lived in the property. The buildings were demolished in the late 1950s and replaced by an office block on the corner of Marylebone Road and Marylebone High Street. There is a sculptural frieze depicting Dickens and some of his characters on the building which now stands on the site.
