View of Staple Street
Description
View of Staple Street, Southwark, looking south west, by Walker Street, showing terraced houses. Men and women can be seen on the pavement. These buildings and Walker Street, no longer exist. Staple Street has been straightened out and stretches from Long Lane to Manciple Street – just north of where Staple Street once junctioned with Walker Street. The lower section of Staple Street, pictured here, is now occupied by Tabard Gardens, developed as part of the Tabard Gardens Estate, completed in 1925 and extended in 1935.
