Description
View of shop fronts at 2-14 Tooting High Street, Tooting, looking south. The two shops to the right-hand side are: Stallworthy's (a bootmaker's) at 146 Upper Tooting Road, and M Gluckstein & Co. (a tailor's) at number 148 Upper Tooting Road. The wall next to this is covered with advertisements, the largest of which is for J Spantons Timber Yards. Below this advertisement is a large group of young children facing the camera, with a small dog stood nearby. Various other pedestrians are stood looking at the camera, including a man under a shop awning wearing an apron. Beyond the awning is the entrance to Selkirk Road, and the corner wall of the shop is covered with painted adverts. A workman is stood on the roof in the distance. All the buildings except the ones on Upper Tooting Road have been since been demolished and redeveloped into buildings with commercial shop fronts.
