Title
Houses in Ransom Road
Description
View of semi-detached houses at 30-32 Ransom Road, Charlton, looking north. The road follows the route of Glenton’s railway from the sand and chalk pits to the south (now the location of Charlton Athletic football ground) to the Woolwich Road and the name is said to come from the type of skips used on the railway. The double-arch railway bridge was to allow Glenton’s Railway under the main line. On the left are the rear elevations and back gardens of 63-83 Floyd Road. A Ford Escort Mk I is parked in the street. Numbers 80-82 have since been demolished and replaced with an ugly two-storey box with metal doors and bars on the windows.
