Description
First-floor rear room chimneypiece at Pelham House, 30 Spital Square, Spitalfields. An ornately decorated fireplace within Pelham House, a home for working boys, opened at 30 Spital Square in 1870. Run by Homes for Working Boys in London, it accommodated 80 boys aged 13 to 17 years. The building included a library, reading room and gymnasium. The home later moved to Streatham and closed around the time of World War II. This building no longer exists.
