Description
Surviving buildings on the north side of Barbican (now Beech Street), City of London, showing left to right the Post Office at number 57-58, the former Horse & Carriage Repository at 55-56, and W. Bryer & Sons Ltd, gold refiners, at 53-54 (which moved its operations to Hatton Garden in 1962). The Dutch gables of W. Bryer & Sons serve as a useful landmark in views north across the bombsite. The frieze between its first and second floors was salvaged on demolition and survives as an ornament in the Barbican residential development.
