Description
View of three-storey with basement terraced houses at 50 and 51 Northumberland Place, Notting Hill, City of Westminster, looking west, seen set back from number 52, just visible, left. The c1850 houses have a rendered facade and, varyingly, a balcony with ornate wrought-iron balustrading in front of French windows. With a tented canopy above supported by elaborate Greek key patterned ironwork at 50 right, and a similar balcony in front of the French windows at 51 but without the canopy. Cornices above the first-floor six-over-six full-height sash windows with balconettes in front, smaller sash windows at the top floor with moulded stucco surrounds (and bars at 51), and pitched roofs hidden behind a corniced parapet. The gardens are paved with planters, with bow-top railings in front. Northumberland Place is in Westminster Council's Westbourne Conservation Area.
