Partial view of 22 Newport Street, Lambeth, a large Victorian building with multiple parked cars. Number 22 Newport Street was the site of the original Lambeth Ragged School, a charitable organisation dedicated to the education of impoverished children. Lambeth Ragged School established by Henry Benjamin Hanbury Beaufoy in 1851 as a memorial to his wife and variously known as the Beaufoy Ragged School and the Beaufoy Institute. In 1994, the building became the Beaconsfield Art Gallery. Most of the original building was demolished by Network Rail in railway expansion works; the company has owned the site since 1903.
