Title
Houses in Lorn Road
Description
View of 47-49 Lorn Road, Stockwell. Built on the estate of Fir House on Brixton Road, owned by Randall Jackson, a barrister. On his death, James MacDougall was made trustee of the Jackson estate, and he laid out the road in 1840. Number 49 is half of a three-storey semi-detached house with basement. Number 51 was destroyed as it was at the edge of a blast area of a V1 rocket in World War II. Number 47 is of the same design. Steps lead up to porches with square columns and a car is parked in the street. The vacant site to the right of number 49 is now Slade Gardens Park. The buildings remain.
