Mr Sambourne’s bedroom at 18 Stafford Terrace, Kensington, which was the home of Edward Linley Sambourne, former Punch cartoonist. It has Aesthetic Movement period interiors decorated by Sambourne from 1875 onwards, it is Grade II* listed, listing number 1409861. Stafford Terrace was built in 1868 by Joseph Gordon Davis, who developed much of the surrounding Phillimore Estate from the mid-1850s onwards. This shows the door into Mr Sambourne’s bedroom which has a security door chain. There are pictures on the wall including one of a fish, and one of a man working at a drawing desk. The chair seat has William Morris fabric pattern ‘Golden Lily’, which matches the curtains seen in the wardrobe mirror reflection. The ceiling light which can be seen in the mirror is of the rise and fall pendant design. There is a Chinese ceramic lidded jar in the foreground on the right.
