Description
Staircase of 18 Stafford Terrace, Kensington, which was the home of Edward Linley Sambourne, former Punch cartoonist. It has Aesthetic Movement period interiors decorated by Sambourne from 1875 onwards, it is Grade II* listed, listing number 1409861. Stafford Terrace was built in 1868 by Joseph Gordon Davis, who developed much of the surrounding Phillimore Estate from the mid-1850s onwards. There are many paintings and prints on the wall, including a print of ‘Bubbles’ by Sir John Everett Millais, and a barometer.
