Dining room at 18 Stafford Terrace, Kensington, which was the home of Edward Linley Sambourne, former Punch cartoonist. It has Aesthetic Movement period interiors decorated by Sambourne from 1875 onwards, it is Grade II* listed, listing number 1409861. Stafford Terrace was built in 1868 by Joseph Gordon Davis, who developed much of the surrounding Phillimore Estate from the mid-1850s onwards. This shows a highly decorated dining room with William Morris ‘Fruit’ wallpaper above a dado, and a plate shelf at picture rail height. The ceiling has plaster relief mouldings. There are many pictures on the wall and a convex circular mirror which gives a ‘fish eye’ reflection of the room, showing the octagonal dining table and a bay window. The sideboard has Minton tiles and a mirror.
