The foreground shows a vacant site cleared following bombing in World War II. the distillery is a symmetrical building with a central main entrance door with a porch, flanked on both sides by large doors. It has arched windows on the first floor and a central second-storey area with JAMES BURROUGHS LIMITED written on the parapet wall above.

The distillery was known as the Cale Distillery, after Burrough's first distillery in Cale Street, Chelsea, which was acquired by James Burroughs in 1863. The distillery moved to this site in 1905 to increase production. It was equipped with the latest stills from J. Dore & Sons. It moved to Kennington in 1958 and still produces Beefeater Gin. To the right of the distillery is a house part of a two-storey terrace. Cars are parked on the street.

Hutton Road no longer exists and now part of the Ethelred Estate with blocks of flats.
