The street was built as part of the Norland Estate laid out by Robert Cantwell. Pairs of three-storey semi-detached houses with basements in Tudor Gothic style. Built in 1852 in red brick with blue diapering, in differing designs. Stone mullioned windows and steps leading up to the porch. Number 11 on the corner, and a garage with a steeply sloping roof. Numbers 11-13 are Grade II listed, number 1226480, numbers 15-17 are Grade II listed, number 1226512, numbers 19-21 are Grade II listed, number 1226513, numbers 23-25 are Grade II listed, number 1226514, number 27-29 are Grade II listed, number 1265826, and numbers 31-33 are Grade II listed, number 1226515. Number 17 now has a Blue Plaque to music hall comedian Albert Chevalier who was born there in 1861, his father a French professor of languages. In 1861 other residents in the houses then numbered 13-24 included an underwriter, a retired Army Captain, a solicitor, a fundholder, a retired teacher and an artist. Most families had resident servants. Cars are parked on the street and a Ford Transit van is driving south.
