View of Fentiman Road
Description
View of 58-62 Fentiman Road, Kennington, looking south east from the corner with Carroun Road. Laid out in 1838, the road is named after the mid-nineteenth century property developer John Fentiman. The land had been owned by Sir Charles Blicke, a surgeon at St Bartholomews Hospital, who lived in nearby Carroun House to the north of Fentiman Road. A three-storey terrace with basements, and steps up to the front porch. Number 14 Carroun Road a ,two-storey building, and number 16, a four-storey building, are combined as an Off Licence on the ground floor with a sign on the wall for Bass Brewery. In the street is parked an MG Midget and a van. The buildings remain although the site of the Off Licence is now wholly residential.
