Title
Shops in Electric Avenue
Description
Electric Avenue shops viewed from Atlantic Road, Brixton. Electric Avenue was opened in 1888 and was the first street market to be lit by electric lighting. Eddy Grant immortalised the street in his 1983 song of the same name. A view of the edge of the market and part-covered walkway on the left. A Co-op van is parked on the left and an empty shop on the corner on the right has bill posters across the windows as a man walks by. A iron lamp post and black and white bollards are on the pavement. The road is wet from rain.
