House in Durand Gardens
Description
44 Durand Gardens, Lambeth. This semi-oval shaped enclave with enclosed gardens set into the centre was developed in the nineteenth century. Number 44 is a three-storey nineteenth-century detached house with basement and sash windows and two bay window features, with curtains visible, either side of the entrance on the ground floor. Pilasters and a cornice frame the front door with oblong fanlight above. Steps lead up to the door and a low brick wall with hedge and part railing marks the boundary. By the brick entrance posts is a small trolley or pram and a bottle of milk on the wall by the steps. An iron lamp post is on the pavement.
