Title
Houses in Denny Street and Chester Way
Description
19-21 Denny Street looking to 32-34 Chester Way, Lambeth. A mixture of houses on the Duchy of Cornwall Estate. On the nearside are houses in the same style as Denny Crescent which was laid out in 1913 by J.D. Coleridge, and the buildings are now Grade II listed. Two-storey red brick cottages designed in a Dutch style with contrasting dark tiled roof with short white posts and linking chain that mark the boundary. At number 21 the door has a triangular pediment and circular window above with sash windows and moulded architrave surround either side. The neo-Georgian four-storey flats on the corner of Denny Street, known as Restormel House, and the three-storey buildings in Chester Way were designed by Louis de Soissons in 1930s (he was notable for being the architect of Welwyn Garden City). They are built from yellow stock brick with a tall chimney. A motorbike, cars and van are parked on the road. Trees and a lamp post are also in view.
