Title
Demolition of houses in Frederick Crescent
Description
Nineteenth-century Italianate terraced housing at Frederick Crescent, Lambeth, with windows boarded up and corrugated iron fence outside, about to be demolished. Flat roof with modillion cornice, a cornice and architrave surrounds with keystone detail on double round-headed windows with pilasters are echoed in the design of the entrance door. Black and white bollards line the street. In the distance behind some trees is St John the Divine of Kennington, which is a Grade I listed building in the decorated Gothic style. It was built between 1871 and 1874 by the architect G.E. Street, with tower and spire by A.E. Street (1888-89). A clock is visible on the tower and the ground is wet with rain.
