View of 301-307 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton. Numbers 301-3 two-storey buildings on the corner of Loughborough Park. The ground floor shops have a sign Barker's Ltd. In front is parked a Bedford van and an Austin A35. Number 305-7 part of the Loughborough Park Tavern. A pub stood on this site from at least 1864 although it was known as the Royal Veteran. It was renamed in the 1880s and rebuilt in 1899 by Eedle and Meyers into a large, highly decorative three-storey building. The pub is enclosed by fencing and was due for demolition when this photo was taken. This site is now an open space in front of the blocks of flats called Southwyk Place and known locally as the Barrier Block, completed in 1981
