Description
View of the National Film Theatre, Concert Hall Approach, Waterloo, looking southeast from Belvedere Road. Originally the Telecinema building of the 1951 Festival of Britain, specially designed by Wells Coates to show both films and television. It was one of the most popular attractions of the Festival, and was handed over to the British Film Institute after the Festival of Britain, and remained as the National Film Theatre until 1957 when it was relocated under Waterloo Bridge. The railway viaduct leads from Waterloo East Station over Hungerford Bridge.
