House in Palace Gardens Terrace
View of 52 Palace Gardens Terrace, Kensington, which was undergoing renovations in 1983. The front of the house is covered in scaffolding and has two wooden ladders to provide access to the upper levels. The house is part of a nineteenth-century terrace with steps up to the front door, an open porch with Ionic columns and large sash windows. A decorator, wearing shorts, is inside the doorway; holding a small can of paint and painting the front door. He can also be seen on image number 85897. Decorating dust sheets have been spread over the steps. More renovations can be seen on image numbers 85895, 85896, 85898, 85900, 85901 and 85903. A circular coal hole cover can be seen on the pavement; coal would be delivered directly to the cellar though this opening.
