Hardwick for the Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir John Everett Millais. It has a Blue Plaque commemorating ‘Sir John Everett Millais (1829-1896) Painter, lived and died here’. A grand house with many large windows, Doric and Ionic columns, iron railings, and stone balustrades at pavement level and on the roofline. Now occupied by the Zambian High Commission; in 1969 it was the Pakistan High Commission Annexe. 4 Palace Gate is Grade II listed; listing number 1066005. Built in 1873 by E. Salomons and J. P. Jones, and now occupied by the Korean Consulate. 6 and 6a Palace Gate, both in the same building, built c1875 is also Grade II listed; listing number 1357456.
