Buildings in Palace Avenue, off Kensington Palace Gardens
View of the Old Barrack Block, Palace Avenue, off Kensington Palace Gardens, taken from Kensington Palace Green looking south. A two-storey building with an arched passage in the centre; built in the late-seventeenth or early-eighteenth century as barracks. Grade II listed, listing number 1267049. It is now privately-owned flats. The multi-storey building in the background is the luxury five star Royal Garden Hotel, designed by Richard Seifert and built in 1961. The development also included flats and caused controversy for its modern brutalist design.
