Title
Houses in Lansdowne Walk
Description
View of front elevations of semi-detached houses at 11-12 Lansdowne Walk, previously known as Hanover Terrace, Notting Hill. The four storey (including lower ground floor), brick built, half stucco villas have a two storey extension to the front where the entrance is located and in front is a low stone balustrade wall. There are narrow, arched windows on the ground floor and some of the first floor arched windows have an ornate cast iron window box retainer. The buildings have a bracketed cornice at the top which is interrupted by an extension at the top of number 12. Number 12 belongs to the Sheppard Trust which was founded by Miss Elizabeth Sheppard in 1855 to provide low cost accommodation for elderly gentlewomen living on small fixed incomes or “ladies in reduced circumstances” – its original name was “Miss Sheppard’s Annuitants Homes”. Parked in the street are an Hillman Hunter/Minx Estate and a Ford Cortina Mk II (registration XGH 233G).
