View of the nineteenth-century mews houses of Cheval Place, Kensington, looking west from Montpelier Walk towards 66 Cheval Place in the background. The back elevations of houses on Brompton Square and the dome of Brompton Oratory can be seen behind it. The Oratory is Grade II* listed, listing number 1358123. There are two old gas lamps which has been converted to electricity, and several cars parked, including a sports car and an estate car. There is an antique shop on the corner of Montpelier Walk, and the tree on the left in the foreground is an ailanthus altissima, also known as ‘tree of heaven’. On the ground near the tree are three bags of builder’s sand or cement.
