Description
Bourne Estate Extension, Verulam Street, Holborn. A vacant site with remains of a building that once stood there, with surviving buildings visible in the background. Most of Bourne Estate, an Edwardian housing estate built in 1905-09, still exists and much of it is Grade II listed as one of the best examples of tenement architecture. The Verulam Street buildings, however, were destroyed during World War II along with factories and industrial buildings that bounded the estate at its the southern edge.
