Description
View from upper floor of internal courtyard of the Prudential Assurance Building also known as Holborn Bars. Parked cars. Built on the site of the former Furnival's Inn, Holborn Bars was designed in Gothic Revival style for the Prudential Assurance Society by Alfred and Paul Waterhouse and built by Holland, Hannen & Cubitts between 1876 and 1901. The interior design of the main entrance hall was completed in 1906. The building was modified in 1930-32 by with Art Deco features and expanded in 1993. It was Grade II* listed in 1972.
