View of Sydney Street
Description
General view of Sydney Street, Chelsea, looking north from the King's Road. On the east side of the street are the Granada Television Studios. The building dating from 1903 was once the Chelsea Palace of Varieties, then Chelsea Palace Theatre. In 1955 it was renamed the Granada Theatre and soon afterwards leased as a television studio and known as Studio 10, but when Granada Television moved their base to Manchester it lay empty and was soon to be demolished in December 1966. The site later became a Heal's furniture store.
