Demolition site of Wells Crescent
View looking south-east of vacant lot previously occupied by the residential housing of Wells Crescent, Camberwell. Partial view of temporary structures in foreground. The large building in the centre of the image is the rear of 250 Southampton Way. The upper building and roof of the adhesives factory at 256 Southampton Way can be seen at right centre of the image. To the right of the adhesives factory is the gable end and roof of the building at 71a Muscatel Place. On the right of the image is part of the building located at 71 Muscatel Place. The main business on this section of Southampton Way was the manufacture of gummed and coated papers and adhesives by Samuel Jones and Co. who operated substantial factories in the area. The crescent no longer exists and the area is now the Southampton Way social housing estate.
