Interior of Crosby Hall in Cheyne Walk
Description
Crosby Hall, at the corner of Cheyne Walk and Denvers Street, Chelsea, showing a part of the ceiling in detail. Crosby Hall, a Grade II* listed residence, was originally built in 1466 in Bishopsgate, City of London. In 1909-10 it was dismantled brick by brick and re-erected under the supervision of William Godfrey at its present location in Chelsea, because the original site was redeveloped. The roof of the Great Hall, the oriel window and other windows with some walling between, a fireplace and postern door are all original features, the rest was added by Godfrey between 1910 and 1926.
