Title
The Retreat in Queen's Road
Description
View of front elevation of The Retreat, a derelict detached building off Queen's Road to the east of Hollydale Road, Peckham. The building is boarded up with broken windows on the upper floors and there are tea crates and a steel container in the yard. The building was next to a Marist Convent which was occupied from the late 1870s until 1940 when both buildings were bombed out. The Marist sisters moved to Otter St Mary in December 1940. The Retreat was a cul-de-sac running south from Queen's Road, parallel to Hollydale Road. The street no longer exists and the area is now the location of St Thomas the Apostle School and Sixth Form.
