Description
View of terraced houses at 277-289 Commercial Way, Peckham, looking north-east towards Old Kent Road. At the end of the street, on the left, is the Sidmouth Arms public house which has since been converted to residential. In the background are two tower blocks of the Ledbury Estate; Peterchurch House on the left and Skenfrith House on the right. In the distance is gasholder 13 of the former South Metropolitan Gas Works which was Grade II listed in 2017 (the only example of this form of gasholder on the National Heritage List); listing number 1446329. A number of cars are parked in the street, including a Ford Prefect 107E, an Austin Mini Cooper, a Wolseley Hornet Mk3 and a Triumph Herald with a chalk sign in the road behind it that reads "058 260". A Ford Thames 400E van is also parked in the street. A cast iron lamp post is visible. The entire terrace has since been demolished and is now the location of Bird in Bush park.
