Title
Houses in The Orchard off Blue Anchor Lane
Description
View of rear gardens of terraced houses at 30-39 The Orchard, off Blue Anchor Lane, Peckham. Most of the houses are of wood-clad construction. The gardens are separated by wooden, picket fences. A young girl looks to the camera. Blue Anchor Lane was previously called Blue Anchor Yard and used to run north from Peckham High Street to Goldsmith Road (previously known as Back Walk). Part of the lane nearest Peckham High Street still exists and is now called Mission Place however a few years after this picture was taken the buildings were all demolished to make way for Wakefield House in the Oliver Goldsmith Estate which was built in 1931.
