Title
Old Pewterers' Hall in Lime Street
Description
The exterior walls of Old Pewterers' Hall, Lime Street, City of London. Various wall textures: plastered, brick and slate can be observed and sash windows with a window in the roof. A ladder is propped up by a drainpipe and chimneys at the top. A lantern-style turret is in the foreground. The first hall, which was built in 1496, burnt down in the Great Fire of 1666. This detail is from the second hall of 1670 (designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1668), which was burnt in 1840. This photograph was taken in 1932, the year of its demolition.
