Description
Situated at 71-73 Albert Bridge Road, Batterseas, on the southern corner with Ethelburga Street, this gothic red-brick semi-detached property was built by John Roberts of West Brompton around 1875-1876. According to the Survey of London, the property was built for John Nevil Maskelyne, a watchmaker turned stage magician who specialised in exposing fraudulent spiritualists and card sharpers. The property has distinctive turrets and corner bays but suffered war damage and was demolished for the development of the London County Council's Ethelburga Estate in the early 1960s. It was replaced by a three-storey block of flats called Jagger House.
