Title
Houses on Althorp Road
Description
A view of houses at 17-21 Althorp Road, Wandsworth. This road forms part of "McKellars Triangle", an area of land south of Wandsworth Common sold by landowner McKellar in 1863 and purchased by the British Land Company to attract buyers of small freeholds for housebuilding (which, at this date, came with voting rights) with many of the houses being built in the late 1860s. The property on the far left of the photograph (no.17) appears to be a later addition, perhaps mid-twentieth century. These properties have small front gardens, here bordered by hedges or walls. Two parked cars outside the properties can be identified, from the left a Ford Anglia 105E and a Triumph Herald.
