Description
Front façade of 5-6 Threadneedle Street, City of London. The building occupies a corner site on the south side of Threadneedle Street at its junction with Finch Lane and was occupied by Midland Bank Limited at this time. A Neo-Classical building constructed in 1856 for the City Bank (later taken over by Midland Bank Limited). Notable features in this photograph include the ornate metal grills covering the large ground-floor windows. The main entrance is only partially visible (one column only) as it is located on the corner of Finch Lane and Threadneedle Street facing northwest. Midland Bank Limited signage is visible and there is a bus stop on the pavement near the entrance. The building was Grade II listed in 1972; listing number 10789129. A small part of a building on the west side of Finch Lane is visible covered with tarpaulin.
