View of Throgmorton Street
Description
A view of the front façade of 26 Throgmorton Street, City of London. The large building that dominates the photo was built in 1877 and was designed as two separate buildings by the architect Thomas Chatfeild Clarke. The right-hand half is Gothic in style and the left half more Italianate. It was Grade II listed in 1972; listing number 1180599. At the time of the photo, both halves were occupied by Midland International Bank. A parcel delivery van is parked opposite. Beyond the bank is one of the three façades of the Drapers' Hall, which has undergone many architectural changes since it was bought from Henry VII in 1543. The curved exterior of the Livery Hall can be seen above the street façade. The whole hall was Grade II listed in 1972; listing number 1358902.
